11 hurt in rival union clash

At least 11 persons including three women were injured in a clash between supporters of Citu and its rival union, Hindmotor Sangrami Yukta Mancha (HMSYM) at the Hindusthan Motors factory near Uttarpara in Hooghly this morning. The clash ensued after supporters of (HMSYM), who are on an indefinite strike for past two weeks, confronted Citu supporters who tried to enter the plant around 8 a.m. today. Supporters of both labour unions hurled stones on their rivals injuring eleven. The factory’s security office and the canteen was ransacked by a group of employees.
