Cal State faculty authorizes strike

California State University faculty have approved a labor strike that could take place this spring, the faculty union announced Wednesday.

The dispute arises from failed contract negotiations. The 23,300-member faculty has been working without a new contract for two years, and both administrators and teachers agree they make less than instructors at similar institutions. CSU has offered 24.87 percent wage increases over the next three years, but union leaders charge many faculty won't see that much money.
