No progress in PA community college strike

Despite several hours of meetings with a state mediator yesterday, no progress was reported last night in the nine-day faculty and staff strike at Community College of Philadelphia. Union negotiator Steve Jones said Local 2026 of the American Federation of Teachers was "truly distressed at this turn of events." He said the union's three bargaining units - representing almost 1,800 full- and part-time faculty and support staff members - had made major concessions in its pay-raise demands over the weekend, hoping for progress.
