Strike affecting Huron, traffic flow

Members of the Huron (Ontario) University College Dining Hall staff, represented by Ontario Public Service Employees Union Local 144, hit the picket lines Monday morning creating traffic delays and verbal confrontations with some students wanting to get to class. Strike action was called after an unsuccessful conciliation meeting with Compass Group Canada, which operates and manages Huron's Dining Hall. Workers are seeking a salary increase, better sick time provisions and other improvements. They have been without a contract since the summer of 2006.
