Workers strike Montreal cemetary, bodies unburied

Burials at Montreal's famous Notre-Dames-des-Neiges Cemetery are on hold because of a labor dispute. Cemetery General Manager Yoland Tremblay said 300 bodies are stored in a refrigerated chamber, waiting for the dispute to end, the Canadian Broadcasting Corp. said Thursday. Maintenance workers seeking greater job security, a raise and improvements to their pension plans went on strike in May after a management lockout, the CBC said. Tremblay said the deceased will be treated with respect. A number of families, however, have filed a class-action lawsuit in connection with the burial delays.
